Linebackers (LB)

The Blitzing Linebackers (LB) should get to the Quarterback (QB) as fast as possible to pull the flag or disrupt the play.

The Non-Blitzing Middle Linebacker should play ZONE in the middle of the field.

Defensive Backs (DB)

To disguise the blitz, the Defensive Backs (DB) should line up where the Linebackers (LB) normally do.

At the snap, the DB's should drop back & to the outside into ZONE to cover receivers & runners.

Safeties (S)

To disguise the blitz, the Safeties (S) should line up where the Defensive Backs (DB) normally do.

At the snap, the DB's should drop back to the middle into ZONE to cover receivers & runners.

Blitzing 2 players leaves only 5 defenders to cover the field, defenders should know their drop back & coverage assignments.

Blitzing can be very affective against play action as faking takes time allowing the blitzer(s) time to disrupt the play in the backfield.

Blitzing will not be as affective against teams that hand the ball off or pass quickly.
